Rally for Democracy!
What's Next?
Thank you for joining the Chicago Rally for Democracy co-organized by Moms for Democracy and Indivisible Chicago, with support from 350 Chicago and League of Women Voters of Chicago.
Showing up for democracy and making your voice heard is critical at this moment. We are our democracy, and everyone has a role to play.

Looking for what to do next? Here are some quick action items to continue the momentum. Take action, and ask your friends to do so too!

01
Talk!
The first step is talking to your neighbors, friends, and family. In these divided times, we are often afraid to talk about politics or difficult issues, but democracy is rooted in us sharing ideas and dialogue. You will find you have more in common with one another than you think.
See here for why talking helps, and here for guidance on how to talk to people you disagree with politically.
02
Meet!
Face-to-face discussion not only helps break down barriers, it also helps build community. You may gather around an issue, but you are also building a community of friends and neighbors who help support one another.
See here on connecting with others and here on taking action with a buddy.

03
Vote!
If we want a thriving democracy, we all have to participate in it. Check vote.org to make sure you’re registered to vote, and make a plan to vote in every upcoming election.
In Illinois, upcoming primaries are on March 17, 2026. Get out the vote so that others do so too!
04
Call!
Calling your elected officials can make a difference – they track the issues that constituents call about.
You can find your representatives here. Save their info in your phone! And get ideas and scripts at 5calls.org.

05
Know your rights!
Everyone in the US has basic rights under the Constitution and the law. Knowing your rights can help you protect yourself and your community.
Learn more about your rights here.
06
Join a local group!
One of the most important individual actions you can take is to work in community.
You can find local Indivisible chapters here, or reach out to Moms for Democracy here. If you’re looking for something else, ask around for suggestions, or start your own group!

07
Engage in your community!
Check on your neighbor, volunteer with a local group, or find a problem that needs solving that you can help with.
See here for the importance of little connections, and here on collective care.
08
Take action regularly!
Make weekly or even daily actions a habit and part of your routine.
Sign up here for quick weekly actions from Moms for Democracy. And sign up here for daily actions from Indivisible Chicago. Visit Indivisible Chicago’s Take Action Chicago page for their priority actions.

09
Join protests!
It only takes 3.5% of the population protesting nonviolently to prevent an authoritarian takeover. We know that is way less than the number of Americans who disapprove of this administration’s attacks on democracy. Let’s go!
Sign up for Indivisible's emails here to be notified of other protests, and check out protest safety tips.
10
Use your influence!
Think about the groups and institutions that you’re a part of, and identify how you can mobilize them to resist authoritarianism.
See here on courage collectives, and here on mobilizing where you can.

11
Spread the word!
The more people taking action, the more impact we have. The more people who show up for democracy now, the more likely that democracy prevails. Get others to join you NOW.
See here on encouraging active engagement.
