About Moms for Democracy
We are a coalition of moms—your friends and neighbors—who are working to make sure that our children grow up in a thriving democracy.
For us, this isn't about political parties or left versus right. This is about living in a country where the rule of law and due process are followed. A country where masked men don't kidnap people off the street, and where children aren't afraid to go to school. Where science is respected, and where free speech allows us to say what we believe without government retribution.

The moms in our coalition prioritize different issues, and we have different political opinions, but we all believe in this country. And we recognize the urgency of protecting democracy before it's too late, and the importance of using our voices to build a better world for our kids and our communities. (Want to know more? How we work
Simple! We connect with our mom friends (and anyone else who wants to joins us), in our own communities, and we figure out easy and effective actions we can take together.

Our weekly action emails are available here.

If you want help setting up your own group, drop us a line here. We started out as a small group of moms in Chicago, but we've got friends around the country.

None of us can do it all. But many of us, working together, will make a difference. Join us!

Why now?
US democracy is under "severe threat," according to experts. Hundreds of scholars have warned that the US is moving swiftly towards authoritarianism; in fact, we may have already tipped into fascism. Yikes.
When democracy is under threat, research shows that the window for action closes much faster than most people realize. In other words, the right time to protect our democracy is NOW. Lessons from around the world tell us that we are already running out of time.
And when leaders try to break a democracy, citizens (and institutions) must mobilize to say no.
The (very!) good news is that ordinary citizens, acting together, are powerful. Standing up to threats to democracy makes an important difference. What our country needs now, very urgently, is for more of us to take action together.
